Day 6 – Eagle and Salmon

We have a late start after the long paddling day yesterday. We are up at about 8 am – the smoke is gone but the weather is not really good.

1st step today: repairing our canoe – not sure when that happened but this has to be done.

We leave around noon and have lunch not long after that at the confluence with a small river – fishing without success.

The channel of the main river is large now and we have to pay attention not to get stuck on sand banks as the water level is really low. The weather is getting better however.

It’s already around 4 pm when we spot a bald eagle just sitting on a tree near a confluence with a small stream.

When the eagle is there, fishing might be worth a try.

It seems that we are not the first ones here – Mum want’s to leave immediately of course.

This would be a nice camp actually but we decide (for obvious reasons) not to stay here.

Fishing is successfull however – the first salmons. We can see them in the crystal clear water coming from the little creek.

When we leave it’s already late afternoon and we decide to search for a camp. Water level is still really low and we still have to navigate between sand banks and choose the right channel.

We finally decide to set up camp on an island. Quite sandy but otherwise fine.

Salmon for dinner of course with rice and parmesan and some sun light and reflections for sunset. It’s midnight when we go to bed.
