Day 13 – Morning rain

We do not get up early – around 9 am. The weather is still changeable and the wind is already quite strong. We leave around 12:30 am.

The cabins on the other side have seen better times.

The “passage” we inspected yesterady before deciding to camp is actually no problem – some rocks in the water but very slow current.

The weather is getting better but there are still some thick clouds. (They do well on pictures though). Navigating is difficult and it’s real work to keep the canoe straight.

We find a spot that is sheltered from the wind for our lunch break. At some points we had no choice than towing as in some curves with the wind from the side it’s nearly impossible to canoe. After lunch we already start looking for a camp as the waves made by the wind are getting higher and higher.

There are less good spots for camps in this part of the river but we still find a nice (and high) one. In the morning we called Peter to book the flight back on 9 August and he told us that some bad weather is coming tomorrow late afternoon and evening: Heavy rain for 24 hours. In case we do not move on tomorrow a camp high above water level is specially important.

The evening light is even more spectacular down here farer away from the mountains.
